Final Showcase of Suter Street

When we left off with the Suter Street project, the bones of the five duplexes were up, but now, all five buildings have been constructed. Now that they are complete, we want to reflect on why we are particularly proud of what has resulted from all the teamwork and commitment to building a bright future for our community.

Under the visionary leadership of Phil Yutzy and Ken Couch, Harman Construction has transformed the Suter Street project into a unique living space. The homes stand out with their exceptional craftsmanship, surpassing the norms of affordable housing. Each detail, from the meticulously selected stone accents to the roof lines and window trims, reflects our commitment to superior quality and design standards.

Suter Street isn't just about aesthetics but redefining affordable housing. As Ray Lam, superintendent at Harman, describes, “If you look at the fit and finish of homes, you would not know it’s an affordable housing project.” Together, we have gone above and beyond to create spaces that maximize both comfort and functionality. The open floor plan on the ground level creates a sense of spaciousness, while the 9-foot ceilings and abundance of kitchen cabinets ensure that every inch of space is utilized effectively. However, the spaciousness doesn’t stop on the bottom floor. The master bedroom upstairs is larger than usual, with a master bath and a master closet.

The extra space planned in the design is excellent, but what really sets these homes aside is the thoughtful additions that elevate the living experience. Additional cabinet space, main-floor washer-dryer units, and an added pantry space were added for convenience and utility, which are rarely seen in affordable housing developments. Venturing upstairs reveals even more surprises. Hardwood stairs and banisters add a touch of elegance, and with secondary bedrooms designed with families in mind, including a Jack and Jill bathroom, every member of the household is catered to.

We are immensely proud of the final result and deeply grateful to have collaborated with Ken and Phil on this transformative project. Their vision and our expertise have created a living space that will change lives. We look forward to more opportunities where we can leverage our skills for a greater cause. For projects like Suter Street, affordable housing is not a compromise—it's a chance to surpass expectations and create spaces that everyone can proudly call home.
