A Thank You to First Responders Everywhere
Recognizing the Heroes of Our Communities
At Harman Construction, we take immense pride in supporting those who dedicate their lives to keeping us safe. First responders—firefighters, EMTs, paramedics, and police officers—are the backbone of our community, answering calls day and night, ready to protect and serve. Their work is challenging, and it’s essential they have state-of-the-art facilities that allow them to continue their mission effectively. Around the Shenandoah Valley, we are proud to say we have partnered with local emergency services to design and construct buildings that help them do what they do best: saving lives.
Port Republic Emergency Station 41
Emergency Station 41 is a pre-engineered metal building with everything a growing emergency team requires. The attached apparatus bay emphasizes urgency, with a design that allows for rapid deployment to any incident near Port Republic Road. With space for six large rescue vehicles and a 20-foot-high ceiling with oversized overhead doors, the emergency team has peace of mind knowing their facility is more than capable of taking action. Inside the main building, staff benefit from a fitness room, training room, and lounge area, helping them stay physically and mentally prepared for the critical work they do.
Rockingham County Emergency Station 10
As first responders step inside Emergency Station 10, a sleek front entrance framed by Butler metal siding and vibrant red bay doors greets them. The station features office spaces, a training room, and a lounge for ongoing education and daily operations. To support the firefighters' physical training needs, we designed their fitness room fully outfitted with rubber flooring and essential equipment. The apparatus bay includes state-of-the-art features like vehicle exhaust vents and epoxy flooring with trench drains, so the fire trucks stay in optimal condition.
A Commitment to Excellence
For both projects, we selected durable, high-quality materials, such as Butler Manufacturing metal panels and splitface block, to ensure these buildings stand the test of time. The interior finishes—like epoxy flooring in the apparatus bays and ceramic tile in the kitchens—chosen for their durability and ease of maintenance reflect our commitment to both form and function.
Contributing to Wellbeing and Productivity
For us, these projects are not just buildings; they’re spaces that create efficiency for those who use them. First responders need facilities designed to meet their specific needs, and we ensure that every project reflects this level of care and precision. We remain dedicated to building spaces that strengthen public safety for generations to come.
Looking Forward to Continue Our Support
As we reflect on these projects, we feel immense gratitude for the first responders who serve our community. Their dedication, courage, and resilience inspire us daily, and we are truly honored to play a role in supporting them. Our team at Harman Construction recently completed the new emergency response station in Elkton, providing support for their vital work, and we are excited to share more on that in the future. We hope to continue getting these opportunities to collaborate with our first responders and show our support in the future.
